We Salute The
Forest Industry
Timber On The Ridge

Ernest Coleman, 1989 Chairman
I am pleased to welcome you to the 8th Annual Ridge Spring Harvest Festival. Hopefully there will be many things that will bring you pleasure and enjoyment. If there is anything we may do, we urge you to please let us know. We want nothing to detract from your enjoyment.

I am honored to have served as the 1989 Chairman. My special thanks to the Town, Festival Committees and all the many people who sorked so faithfully to help make this event possible. As we worked, we knew if "yew wood come, yew wood knot be board" as we honor the Timber Industry.

-- Ernest H. Coleman, 1989 Harvest Festival Chairman

We knew if "yew wood come, yew wood knot be board" as we honored the Timber Industry. Senator Strom Thurmond was the 1989 Grand Marshall. He taught school in Ridge Spring before he began his political career.

The all-male "Miss Knotty Pine Beauty Contest" was held on Thursday evening, October 26, offering lots of laughs and fun.

At noon on the Town Square, a dedication service was held for the improvements to the town's water system. A new 150,000 gallon elevated storage tank was constructed behind the Civic Center.

A portion of the proceeds from this festival was used to match a PARD grant for playground equipment and to fund construction of the proposed gazebo.
